Ferry to Cozumel Via Playa del Carmen

The Ferry to/from Cozumel and Playa del Carmen

We had heard that you should beware of the ferry.  Someone told us that if you are actually going to be staying in Cozumel, to just take a small plane over.  We heard people mention the schedule changes frequently, sometimes the ferry doesn't run at all, and it can desert you in one place or the other.  We went for it.  We even went on a day everyone said was the worst day to go, which was Sunday.  We chose to take the ferry on Sunday, because we knew Cozumel would be void of cruise ships.  You all know we like to have an adventure, get off the beaten path, and not do the whole "touristy" thing.  We didn't have a bit of problem with the ferry, and it showed back up in Cozumel right on time to take us home to Playa del Carmen :)  Apparently, we lucked out...

Side note:
  1. The ferry takes about an hour to get there.
  2. Make sure you take note of the last time it leaves your port.
  3. Do NOT throw away your ticket stubs, especially if you paid for a round trip!  They say to only buy a one way ticket because there are two companies who run the ferry and they do not accept each others' tickets!!!!
  4. There are police men all around, so please for God's sake...Don't try to get drugs to and from
  5. The Police have dogs, guns, and they checked many people the day we rode.
  6. Enjoy the trip!  The ocean breezes are fantastic, you can see bigger fish (scary) in the water, and the color changes of the ocean is fantastic!
I urge you all to visit the website and to do some research before you go.  There is probably more helpful information out there :)
